American Fork Sucks!

So, we got packed and on our way home from the cabin around a decent time. As we are making our way down Spanish Fork Canyon and through all the little towns before that, we see SO much traffic going the other way, and were quite pleased with ourselves that we were going opposite them. Ben asks if we are going straight home. I tell him that we have to drop Granny off first, and then we will go home. He said "Why don't we go home first and Granny can just walk home." My mom and I laughed so hard! So, we are cruising along ... home just around the corner ... and an alarm in the car goes off. It says one of my tires is low. So, I signal to turn off the next exit, which is American Fork. I pull in to the first gas station I see and wait my turn for the free air (why would anyone charge for air?). When it is my turn, I get out and see that my tire is completely flat! I attempt to put air in it, but it is leaking out of a huge hole just as fast as I am putting it in. A nice couple in the parking lot tries to help as Greg arrives. They try and patch it up. There is only one store open for 10 more minutes, and we try to make it before it closes and the tire runs out of air. Well, Greg and Ben made it to the store, but us girls were a few blocks short. We had to pull in to a parking lot next to a salon because the tire was completely flat again. Well, long story short, my mom and I and Ben and Reese sat on American Forks busiest street for hours on end, and NO ONE stopped to ask if we needed any help. No One! Hello!!! A grandmother, mother and 2 small kids ... nothing. Thus, American Fork sucks in my book. The problem with the tire was it would not come off the car. Poor Greg pried and kicked and hammered away to no avail. It was stuck. So, we had to call my dad at 11:00 at night to come down to haul us and all of our stuff home. We had to unload all our camping stuff out of my car and into my parents' Pathfinder and Greg's work van. We got home around midnight, having been stranded in AF for 6 hours.

Oh my gosh! I have to agree, I don't like AF either. They are soooo snotty! We had that happen to us to, (on our way home from Ferron)but it was the alternator in my mom's old van. Yeah, we were stuck in Provo for an extra 5 hours while my dad put in a new alternator in. He had to take apart the whole dash board, because in those travel vans, that's the only way to do it. I must say, it was VERY frustrating. And so close to home. I guess your mom could've walked home after all.
